My dad is not fat at all. He exercises three times a week and is not fat. AT ALL.
Recently he went to the doctor. My dad had a blood test done. He had just eaten breakfast, so his triglyceride levels were extremely, extremely high. However, this was only because he ate. He even told me this.
For some reason, this stat mutilated in his head. He somehow started thinking he was crazily unhealthy. He has been restricting his eating. He is obsessed with health.
On Sunday, he bought these whole grain flatbreads. He put many leaves of lettuce in there, then about two chunks of chicken breast, and ate it.
Now, this sounds nice, but imagine your dad was always somebody who liked to eat richly. He never ate too much, but it was always good tasting food.
Now he’s snubbing foods, snubbing all meats except for fish and chicken, and is even controlling my eating.
It’s weird. It’s like having some stranger woman in my house. It’s not a tragedy, because it’s good to eat healthily, but it’s not like anyone in our family was fat. We all ate our vegetables and fruits liberally. It was just a daily cookie or whatever, was the only thing we did wrong.
Now my dad’s an orthorexic and obsesses, all the time, vocally, about his food intake. He manages what I eat. He’s completely alienated me.
And really? It’s making me want to just eat badly to piss him off. Just because teenage rebellion is what I do subconsciously, I now don’t want to eat vegetables. Whereas before, they were amongst my favorite things to eat.
Wow, good job, dad.
He also told me to quit being fashionable.
